Dificultad
Avanzado
Método
Sustitución x = sec θ e identidad tan² θ = sec² θ − 1

Calcula ∫x2−1x dx\displaystyle \int \frac{\sqrt{x^2 - 1}}{x}\,dx, para x>1x > 1.

Ver solución
  1. x=sec⁡θx = \sec\theta con θ∈(0,π2)\theta \in \left(0, \frac{\pi}{2}\right): dx=sec⁡θtan⁡θ dθdx = \sec\theta\tan\theta\,d\theta y x2−1=tan⁡θ\sqrt{x^2 - 1} = \tan\theta.
  2. ∫tan⁡θsec⁡θsec⁡θtan⁡θ dθ=∫tan⁡2θ dθ=∫(sec⁡2θ−1)dθ=tan⁡θ−θ\int \frac{\tan\theta}{\sec\theta}\sec\theta\tan\theta\,d\theta = \int\tan^2\theta\,d\theta = \int\left(\sec^2\theta - 1\right)d\theta = \tan\theta - \theta.
  3. Regreso: tan⁡θ=x2−1\tan\theta = \sqrt{x^2 - 1} y θ=arcsec⁡x\theta = \operatorname{arcsec} x.
  4. Resultado: x2−1−arcsec⁡x+C\sqrt{x^2 - 1} - \operatorname{arcsec} x + C. Comprobación: la derivada es xx2−1−1xx2−1=x2−1xx2−1=x2−1x\frac{x}{\sqrt{x^2 - 1}} - \frac{1}{x\sqrt{x^2 - 1}} = \frac{x^2 - 1}{x\sqrt{x^2 - 1}} = \frac{\sqrt{x^2 - 1}}{x}.

Resultado final: ∫x2−1x dx=x2−1−arcsec⁡x+C\displaystyle \int \frac{\sqrt{x^2 - 1}}{x}\,dx = \sqrt{x^2 - 1} - \operatorname{arcsec} x + C
